On May 20, the 2026 edition of “Open Factories” took place at the Empoli site of Lapi Gelatine, an initiative promoted by Federchimica aimed at bringing younger generations closer to the industrial world and creating concrete opportunities for dialogue between schools, businesses, and the local community.
This year’s event carried even greater significance, as it was held within the company’s 60th anniversary celebrations: an important milestone that Lapi Gelatine has chosen to mark by strengthening its relationship with the territory and investing in future generations.
For the occasion, the company welcomed a third-year class from the Ferraris Brunelleschi Technical Institute of Empoli, guiding students and teachers through a dedicated visit to the production facility and the processes behind gelatine manufacturing.
During the visit, participants were able to explore the different stages of production and gain insight into the skills required in the sector, as well as the core values that guide the company’s daily operations: innovation, responsibility, and attention to people and the environment.
The experience was designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, offering students a concrete opportunity for career orientation and future professional development.
The event was attended by representatives from local institutions, associations, and the business community, including Antonio Mazzeo, Vice President of the Regional Council of Tuscany, and Alessio Mantellassi, Mayor of Empoli, along with members of the municipal administration and key local stakeholders.
Their presence highlighted the importance of strong synergies between business, institutions, and the local community, with the shared goal of generating opportunities for growth and development across the territory.
“Opening the doors of the company means creating connections, sharing knowledge, and building value together with the territory,” said Francesco Lapi, President of Lapi Group. “On the occasion of our 60th anniversary, this initiative takes on an even deeper meaning: looking to the future by involving young people and strengthening the bond with the community that has accompanied us for sixty years.”
“Open Factories is a valuable initiative because it brings younger generations closer to the world of business, work, and innovation,” commented Antonio Mazzeo, Vice President of the Regional Council of Tuscany. “Lapi Gelatine represents a strong, rooted company that continues to grow, invest in skills, and strengthen its connection with the territory.”
Empoli Mayor Alessio Mantellassi also emphasized how initiatives like this offer an important opportunity to better understand the local industrial fabric and its role within the regional economy.
With this initiative, Lapi Gelatine reaffirms its commitment to promoting an open, responsible corporate culture deeply connected to its territory.
Through “Open Factories,” the company confirms its active role as a bridge between industry, schools, and the community, contributing to the education of new generations and fostering greater awareness of the industrial world.
